AWARENESS PROGRAMME ABOUT POCSO ACT BY PRINCIPAL ON 22 APR 2017

On 22th April, the Principal APS, Ranikhet , Kamlesh Joshi gave a very informative and lively presentation on POCSO, an acronym for ‘ Prevention of Children from Sexual offences’. It has been presented by him with an intention to sensitize the teachers and the staff about the Prevention of Children from Sexual offences at home, school and other places. During his presentation, he discussed the POSCO ACT in detail. In his lucid and poignant language, he described the various provisions and acts that safeguard children’s interests. In recent years, many cases of sexual abuse have come to light wherein a culprit was a family member, a relative, a known person or a school employee.

SPIC MACAY PROGRAMMES

On the 19th of April, the school turned into a veritable cradle of cheers and applauses when Principal sir along with ottanthullal dancer , Mohana Krishna stepped down the school stairs and headed towards the stage . On that very day the school organized a cultural programme in association with Spic Macay – an independent body that promotes Indian culture, traditional music and dance forms by inviting well known artists to schools across the country. Alike the previous years, this year too, the school observed Health week from: 08 – 14 Apr 2017 On this occasion, an array of programmes were conducted on the WHO theme ‘ Depression Let’s talk’ , mainly focusing on how to lead a stress free life in this ever changing world. On 14 April , Dr SN Srivastva , a seasoned Physician and a tall figure in the field of medicines was invited to the school who talked about the menace of depression that is becoming a common place mental disorder among people across the world, and deadly affecting the youth and their mental abilities. He introduced the students to medical terms such as nervous breakdown, panic disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. He also enumerated the early symptoms of depression, and explained the students that how dwelling on a negative thought plunge an individual into depression. In his talk , he suggested simple and effective ways , such as practicing meditation, being around with positive and uplifting friends , and a following a healthy diet regimen to cure and treat depression .

AWES RAISING DAY 2016

AWES Raising Day was celebrated on 29th April 2016 in Army Public School ,Ranikhet .It is celebrated as the foundation day of AWES in all the Army Public Schools in India. This function was presided by the Chief Guest Maj Gen Anant Bhuyan, Sena Medal along with the other dignitaries. A variety of programmes were organized on that day by the school in all the different categories .Mr Kamlesh Joshi, Principal flagged the start with a cross country race for senior students .In primary section Fun Games were organized by the teachers. A Painting competition was organized in all the classes to bring out the hidden talent and power of imagination of the students .All the students participated in all the programmes enthusiastically and made the day memorable.

INAUGURATION OF NEW MINOR COMPUTER LAB

Dance dissolves everything: stones, diamonds and hearts. It was all experienced by the students and the teachers of APS, Ranikhet on 19.4. 2016. The day introduced itself with the bright light, the sun rays filtering in through the canopy of forest, the school stage decorated, an enthusiastic audience looking forward to a great morning and amidst all around 10am, the famous Kathtak dancer ,Gauri Diwakar with her group arrived at the school.Mr Kamlesh Joshi, Principal, APS,Ranikhet greeted them with utmost respect at the office. Mrs Rachna Singh, the mistress of ceremonies welcomed the maestros. Thereafter, she enthralled the audience with her subtle movements .Mohit Gangani on Tabla perfectly harmonized with the notes of music, accompanied by Indu Prakash on vocal and harmonium resulting in producing such a mesmerizing effect that everyone was enthralled. She also talked about the need of reviving the ancient dance forms .Many a student showed their interest in learning that form of dance and rushed towards the stage to seek her blessings. She calmly listened to them, answered their questions and gave assurance for her assistance. Finally, Mrs. Racha Singh requested Mr Kamlesh Joshi, Principal to honour the maestros and speak about the rich Indian classical dances. The Principal motivated students to learn and listen to good music. He asserted, in this fast moving world, “Music is Food for Soul”. He opined that music improves concentration and memory thus helps students to do well in academics and other spheres of life. Finally, on behalf of the school family, he thanked Spic Macay.

Army Public School, Ranikhet celebrated Health Week from 7 to 15 April, 2016. During the week an array of informative programmes such as Talks on WHO Theme, “Diabetes” by teachers and students, ‘Poster Making Competition on the same theme’ were carried out. In the procession of these events, on 8thApril,SNSrivastava , the well known figure in the field of medicines and the veteran cardiologist , was invited to share his information and suggest ways to the school fraternity to gain robust health. On that day students and teachers attended the programme, and gather information about How to live a fit and healthy life. He threw light on the WHO Theme, addressed the audience in his humour and gave a glimpse of his vast understanding of the subject. He explained how physical activities can dramatically reduce the progress of diabetes . He emphasized that the best way of keeping ourselves fit is adhering ourselves to cleanliness measures and following a diet regimen. Students and teachers interacted with him, asked questions related to diabetes. He was readily available to answer the questions of the audience. Students of class XII spoke on the different types of diabetes and tried to bring awareness about this major problem that has become common in today’s hectic life. The Principal Mr. Kamlesh Joshi complimented the students and teachers for putting up such an inspirational show for the entire week.

The day introduced itself with the bright light, the sun rays filtering in through the canopy of forest, the school stage decorated, an enthusiastic audience looking forward to a great morning and amidst all around 10am, the famous violinist, Anupriya and young tabla player, Zubin arrived at the school. Kamlesh Joshi, Principal, APS,Ranikhet greeted them with utmost respect at the office. Mrs Rachna Singh, the mistress of ceremonies welcomed the maestros and requested Principal and Anupriya to light the lamp. Thereafter, she played raag Basant Bukhari with such accomplishment and delicacy that even the tiniest ones enjoyed it. It seemed that the spring season was all around- the cascading rivers, the blossoming trees and the cooing nightingales all flowing from her four string instrument, the Violin. The beats of tabla perfectly harmonized with the notes of music, resulting in producing such a mesmerizing effect that everyone was enthralled. She also played violin to the lyrics of "Raghupati Raghav Raja Rama". After the performance, she invited students to ask questions and share their experiences. Many a student showed their interest in learning that magical instrument and rushed towards the stage to seek her blessings. She calmly listened to them, answered their questions and gave assurance for her assistance. Jyotsana Negi, a student of class XII, sang a Bhajana and once more music filled the air. Finally, Mrs. Racha Singh requested Kamlesh Joshi, Principal to honour the maestros and speak about the rich Indian classical music. On the 29 May, the clock struck eleven and many palpitating hearts relaxed for a while. Finally the CBSE Result for Class 12 was published on its official website. As usual the moment brought smile on everyones lips at APS, Ranikhet. Once more the students of class XII proved the worth of hard work. Mr Kamlesh Joshi, Principal, APS, Ranikhet in his natural poise congratulated each teacher while the teachers felt a sense of pride. The following morning the Newspapers were cluttered with the photographs of our students. As a matter of fact, the school produced cent percent results in the Science and the Commerce Stream. On the list of District ten toppers, four places were grabbed by our school students. In Science Stream, Tushar Mehra with 95 percent topped the school and adjudged third in Almora District. In the same run, Ashutosh Rawat secured 94.4 percent, Hemant Rawat 94.2 percent and Paras Bhaisora secured 93.2 percent. Seven students scaled the proud mark of 90 percent and above. Continuing the success story,in the Commerce stream, Jagdish Rawat with 85 percent brought laurels to the school and ranked first, The Principal in a brief meeting , with a sense of pride announced that the Schools Academic Performance Index (API) has again shown a rise of nine points and poised at 218.63. He congratulated his team members on this great success and exhorted them not to sit on laurels and put in more efforts for the forthcoming Board Exams.

Inter School Girls' Atheletic Meet-2014

It was an unforgettable day for the students of our school at Ashoka Hall, Majkhali. The girls of our school whole heartedly participated in the Inter School Events hosted by Ashoka Girls School on the 23 and the 24 of May. It was a welcoming step from the host school to foster the spirit of healthy competition in students. Schools participated in this spectacular Sports Event were Ashoka Hall, APS, Ranikhet, All Saints, Nainital, and Koormanchal Academy, Almora. From the outset, the girls from our school outshone the other participants. In all the major events the students of APS Ranikhet swept the board. In Athletics,Amisha Kuwarbi of class XI and Naina verma of class XII turned unbeatable. In 100 and 200 mts race Amisha won gold medal and in 800 and 1500 mts race Naina verma was indisputable winner. Pooja Verma was the first to cross the finishing line in 400 mts. In High Jump, Amisha Kuwarbi grabbed gold and Divya Rawat won silver. Continuing the feat, in High Jump, Jyotsana Negi won gold, Amisha Kuwarbi won Silver and Jyoti Farswan won bronze. Our Girls Basket Ball team was adjudged Runners up. Amisha Kuwarbi brought laurels to home; the enviable Best Athletics award went to her. Finally, amidst rapturous applauses and cheers the Girls Sports League of APS, Ranikhet walked up to the stage and was captured in camera with Athletics Championship Trophy.

The much awaited Investiture Ceremony at Army Public School, Ranikhet was held on 2nd May 2014. The Students collected in the Assembly Ground were curious to know about the new School Cabinet. After the Morning Assembly the proceedings for Investiture Ceremony kicked off. Mrs. Rachna Singh, with the kind permission of the Principal, Mr Kamlesh Joshi, hosted the ceremony. While she called upon the new office bearers on the stage, the school atmosphere echoed with the claps of the students. The members marched sprightly and majestically on the stage and gave a glimpse of their authoritative personality. Shreyas Joshi, the Head Boy administered the oath of allegiance to the school whereby the other members promised to manifest the true spirit of the school, through their disposition, demeanor, persona and character. The Principal gave the badges of honour to the newly selected Prefects and congratulated them. In his brief address he gave stress on the role of the perfects in bringing discipline and harmony in the school. The Principal also delineated the duty of the young leaders and urged them to shoulder their work with zeal and devotion. The following students were invested with authority and responsibilities: Master Shreyash Joshi and Ms Pallavi Singh were appointed as the School Head Boy and the Head Girl respectively, whereas Ms Divya Kandpal, Master Harshit Pant were appointed as Discipline Heads. Ms Deepali Chaudhary and Master Deepak Danu were appointed as School Sports Captains and Ms Shristi Chandra, Master Arya Ritwik Thakur were given the responsibilities of Cultural Heads. Ms Pragati Bhaisora and Master Digar Singh were judged apt to assume the responsibilities Girls/Boys Coordinators. In order to make the selections transparent, agreeable and sophisticated, a selection Panel was set up to select the most competent candidates. A SKIT IN MORNING ASSEMBLY BY CLASS IXA STUDENTS

On 30 Apr 2014, The morning assembly was glamorized by the scintillating skit of class IX A students. The skit was based on the theme Vector Borne Diseases. The students developed awareness amongst the students, about the Vector Borne Diseases, through the humorous plot of one act play. The play was informative, remarkable and widely appreciated by the students and the teachers. It emphasized the need of health food and threw light on the impacts of unhealthy, uncovered food that students usually eat outside the home.

At Army Public School, Ranikhet the Health Week was observed from the 7th to the 16th of April. During the week teachers and students delivered informative talks in the Morning Assembly, on the World Health Organization theme Vector Borne Diseases to raise awareness among the School populace. On 16 April at the school, Dr. S.N Shrivastva, one of this areas best known names in medicine, addressed the Morning Assembly. He highlighted the WHO theme and enumerated the causes of Vector Borne Diseases. He gave stress on the proper Sanitation, Drainage and Sewage system that can prevent the outbreak of such illnesses. At the end of his presentation, he intently addressed questions posed by the audience related to the topic. On the same day Dr. Shrivastava conducted a workshop for the male Parents and the Senior Boys in the Computer Lab. On April 16, a group of Nature Club students presented a skit depicting the harmful effects of unwholesome food which students usually eat outside the home. They gave a strong message to give a second thought to all those who might be tempted to eat junk and stale food at open stalls. In the Primary Wing many activities were conducted on the occasion. On the 3 and 4 of April the students participated in Physical fitness and Yoga Session A collage-making competition was held for students from classes 6 to 8 on the topic, Vector Borne Diseases.
